Equity Methods extends hearty congratulations to the three teams that took home top honors at this year’s Microsoft Excel Collegiate Challenge (MECC).
The MECC is an esports competition created to test the spreadsheet skills and critical thinking capabilities of college and university students from around the world, and this year were headline sponsors for the Team Challenge segment of the event.
Over the course of three days, 19 teams, made up of three students each, demonstrated their Excel skills by completing a series of high-pressure, timed challenges while thousands of onlookers cheered them on. When the dust settled on Day 3, four teams emerged as victors:
We were honored to support the Team Championship and present the winners with their trophies.
This wasn’t our first time sponsoring the MECC. We sponsored the 2023 Challenge. At that time, there were no team competitions; instead, more than 3,400 students completed individual challenges.
The headcount at this year’s event, which took place December 1 – 3 at HyperX Arena in Las Vegas, confirms the growing popularity of both the MECC and esports. More than 14,000 participants were on hand. The MECC is now recognized as a premier proving ground for students eager to show off and enhance their Excel abilities.
Even students who are unable to participate in person can still benefit from the program. The MECC encourages competitors to register and complete online exercises. Those who don’t make it to the Winner’s Circle can still earn career badges they can use to bolster their resumes and jumpstart their careers.
